Check the actual LIVE state in the official account
Open the account and LIVE room you intend to use in TikTok’s official interface. Check whether the room is still in preview, waiting for a start action, processing, or showing a platform notice. If that route presents a separate Go LIVE step, complete it there; the available controls depend on the account and route.
- Write down the account and room shown in the official interface.
- Do not infer a public LIVE from an OBS connected indicator alone.
Match OBS to the current room, not an old session
Compare the server address and stream key in the correct OBS instance with the parameters for that account’s current LIVE session. A previous room, another account’s instance, or recreated session may leave the encoder connected while the page you are checking still belongs to a different room.
- Keep a server URL and key from the same current session together.
- Never include a complete stream key in screenshots or support logs.
Prove the result from the viewer side
Open the intended account’s LIVE from a second device or a normal viewer session, using the current room link if available. Refresh after a short interval and check moving video and audible sound, then compare the account name and room with the operator screen. A local preview is useful for framing but is not proof of viewer delivery.
- Ask a colleague to check the same room if one viewer page appears stale.
- Record the time, device and exact message shown without capturing private credentials.
Separate platform state from an unstable feed
If the official room is active but viewers still see a placeholder or frozen picture, watch OBS connection status, bitrate and dropped frames while sending the real scene. OBS documents that dropped frames and intermittent disconnects can signal an unstable path to the ingest server. Test a stable network and a bitrate the route supports, changing one setting at a time. If the official room never becomes active, use its on-screen error or support route instead of assuming a bitrate change will start it.
- Retest from the viewer device after each change.
- Keep a sanitized error, room identifier and timeline for support if the mismatch persists.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Start here for common questions about purchasing, access and system requirements.
Does “Connected” in OBS mean my TikTok LIVE is public?
No. It confirms an encoder connection, not the official room state or what viewers receive. Verify both in TikTok and on a separate viewer device.
Should I keep restarting OBS while the page says “Starting Soon”?
First confirm the correct account, current session and any platform start action. If the feed is unstable, diagnose the OBS connection; repeated restarts without identifying the failing stage can obscure the cause.
